Shimora Koshu 2014

First vintage of a Japanese venture by Phillip Moraghan ex Curly Flat in the Macedon Ranges. No chaptalisation. Screwcapped.
Delicate nose reminiscent of lychee juice. Refreshing and nicely balanced with a little evolution but no excessive age. No excessive character of any sort, mind you. 16 points, Jancis Robinson

Shimora Koshu 2015

Lifted, rather mineral nose. Really pretty light and with less punch on the palate than the 2014. Clean and fresh but a tad timid. Appetising dry finish. 15.5 points, Jancis Robinson

Shimora Koshu 2016

Textured nose somehow. Like its predecessors, it has excellent balance. It’s dry but not bone dry and the fruit retains its delicacy. But it would have to shout to be heard in the company of any big, beefy red. Delightful afternoon wine?! 16 points, Jancis Robinson
